My life is so simple and usually slow but this has been a busy week. Monday was my annual physical. I suppose no one enjoys this but it has to be done so . . it's done! Tuesday I had to go have bloodwork which revealed that my iron levels are low. Don't know why but I'm now taking iron. Not to mention that they are over $1.25/pill with insurance but they make me SICK!! The doctor said keep taking them so I'm still taking them but if I still feel this bad next week, they're history.
Then yesterday was the annual mammogram. Either I've gotten used to them or they don't hurt as bad as they used to. This is the one time of the year I'm thankful to be a size AAA! :)
I hate (really, really hate) getting dressed up and going out to business dinners and I had to do it twice this week and almost had to do it three times! Vince's company had something going on and oh, I thought of every excuse in the book to keep from going. I really didn't feel good but I went and I survived.
Next week I have to go to the dentist! While I'm on a roll, I might as well have needles stuck under my fingernails. Why is all this having to be done at once? And, the dog has to go to the vet for his annual next week too.
OK, enough whining from me. I needed a little "lift me up" so I dug this piece of fabric out of my stash and I'm making the purple and lime leaf quilt that I wanted to make. I got it started but I had to put it aside and get some quilting for customers done. But, first I'm quilting the first leaf quilt. It's going to be a gift for a friend and I love how it's turning out. Had hoped to get it finished tonight but that's not going to happen. Maybe tomorrow. It's on my September goals list so I'd better get it done tomorrow!

I can't wait to see your leaf quilt done. :)
The design you did in fabric is my favorite, with all the different colors of leaves. Now you're making me want to put it in EQ and see what it'd look like with a dark background, bright leaves, and light where you have dark.
Love those purples and lime stripes! Sounds like a crazy week - hope next week is more relaxed!
Judy - if you struggle with the iron pills, red meat (obviously) egg yolks and surprisingly dried apricots are some of the best sources of iron - I can never resist dried apricots so it wouldn't feel like a chore to me if I had to take them for 'medicinal purposes' :o)
Neat stripe!
You have had a busy week. A new quilt made with that luscious lime and purple fabric is just the pick-me-up you need.
What an icky week...but I think it's better to get it all done in one week, and ruin just one, rather than spreading it out over weeks and ruining bits of several weeks. As for getting dressed up to go to evening dinners and such. I'm with you. We have to do that for Andy's work also and I just don't like it at all...having to put on pantyhose and real shoes just about does me in. Have a better week. Take care...Carol
Ooh! That is a fun piece of fabric, Judy! Glad you treated yourself.
Can you try an OTC iron supplement? When I was pregnant, the doctor suggested taking the pills w/iron at nighttime. Would that be worth a try? Hope you can get it figured out...we don't want you fainting on us from lack of iron!
Whew - what a week.
That stripe is great - time to do something fun with it.
Judy, Would you please share a little of your "quilting bug" with me? I need it right now. LOL
Glad you got the yearly yucky stuff done. Now onward to the fun stripes!
Looks good.
Yes, it sounds like it was a rough week but........
It is done for at least a year and you reported nothing drastic but some yucky iron pills.
On the whole that isn't too bad. And then to come home to lucious lime green and purple stripes.....Now, that rocks.
What a "medical" week you've had!
Looking forward to seeing the leaf quilt.
Hi Judy,
Try floradix for iron, tastes good, and doesn't "bind you up" and its about $30 for a big bottle.
Its all plant sourses of iron. Both my girls have low iron and this takes care of it every time.
You really are taking care of everything, even the dentist !
How should I say this delicately..iron pills can make you "plugged up", I'd pay attention and maybe get something to help things along if you need to. They made me really ill when I had to take them for a while.
Good though to get all your medical stuff done and out of your way so you know you are healthy enough to meet all your quilting goals.
Before quitting the iron altogether, you might want to ask your doctor about taking 1/2 a dose first to see if that agrees with you better!
Can't wait to see what that fun fabric turns into!
Cheers!
Evelyn
