Last week when I was in a state of "can't believe this is happening to me" about my blog not working, I decided that instead of doing what I should have been doing . . .
- Quilting the last two quilts for the book
- Binding the 12 remaining quilts for the book
- Making three quilts for teachers from Chad's senior year of HS that have been promised
- Binding the 2 quilts going to EQ
- Quilting the customer quilts that have begun to arrive since my almost one year break
- General housekeeping chores
- Yard that is in desperate need of attention
I've been wanting to do Tonya's "X's and O's" project. I know I shouldn't do it . . see the bullet list above! :) I woke up this morning thinking about the X's and O's and that was enough. I came in and started playing with EQ and here's what I ended up with. The X's and O's blocks would all be done kind free form, Tonya Fashion you might say. For the EQ drawing, they're all exactly the same. They'll all be done in scrappy reds with scrappy backgrounds . . not all the same as shown in the picture.
Now I'm thinking . . I might like this quilt on my bed but not in red. So why did I make all these red four patch chain blocks? One reason is I didn't have a clue what I was going to do with them when I started. Note to Self: Think Ahead. Another reason is that there is not enough purple and lime green in my stash. Note to Self: Go Shopping on September 1!
So, what's a quilter to do? I think I'll make the Red X's and O's quilt, make 4 more blocks, make the other quilt too. I'll give the other one to the teacher, give Vince the X's and O's quilt for a throw. If I love it, maybe I'll make a purple and lime green one but by then, I'll probably be off chasing another idea.

I can't keep up with you, Judy! Your mind goes faster and creates and designs more quilts in one night than I do in a year!
I love the scrappy red blocks. And the stash setting you came up with! You go, girlfriend!
((HUGS))
That's a lot on your plate.*whew* Love the reds.
Love those red blocks. My son just asked for a quilt this morning- that may be just the ticket. 9" blocks you say? Hmmmmmmm I have not yet been seduced by the x's and o'x --not YET, anyway.
So, do you think you can fit anything else into your schedule? I like all your ideas. One of these days, I'm going to sit down and learn EQ-so far Mike has been the one to use it at all.
The X&0 quilt will make a great throw. I read on Tonya's blog today that we don't HAVE to make big quilts. I like that idea too.
isn't it wonderful to distract oneself with even more new projects :-)
They're both great ideas! I especially like the second one - it combines the old and the new, so to say. EQ looks like a lot of fun. Another temptation!
You are one super creative woman and one with a load of projects on her plate. I'm not a fan of red so I would make either of those quilts in other colors.
well, those X's and O's ideas are certainly catching on...good playing Judy!
I like the red quilt :)
Is this our next hour a day quilt? This one looks interesting. Like Vicky, I am having a hard time keeping up with you!
I know all about doing fun things instead of all the supposed-to-do's... I'm moving and I still don't think my list of to-do's is as long as yours!
Looks like a great way to play with the X and O blocks. Would love to see that in the purple and lime green! Woohoo!
I'm thinking the 2 quilts you posted are done with EQ, is it worth it to buy? Because I've been thinking about buying it once I have the money.
It tells you all the fabric you need right?
those are great!!
I really like what you did with the x's and o's!a
