Thanks Tonya for such a fun project. I had so much fun doing this.
Everything for this quilt came from the stash. I was getting low on reds so I pieced the red borders. Didn't realize the one on the right had such a light/bright in with the darks. Kinda makes it look pink but it isn't. I may change that one but . . I may not. I think I'm going to quilt in using the Baptist Fans from Circle Lord, using a variegated ecru thread.
I also pieced the reds together for the binding so mabe that will help make that bottom side not look quite so pink.
I can't wait for the backing fabric to get here so I can quilt it. I believe it will be a Christmas present for Vince . . unless I cave and give it to him early. The top ended up being 68" x 90".
It's nice that he doesn't know where to find my new blog, nor does his friend, Steve! I can talk about Vince here and he'll never know! :) The benefits of thinking of such an unusual name for my blog - judylaquidara.blogspot.com! Vince is not much of a sleuth, nor does he even try to keep up with what I'm doing so I think I'm safe showing his Christmas present here.

That came together beautifully!
What a great quilt! I love red and white and as I said before, I love the combination of new and old in your unique pattern.
I love the pieced borders, It really brings the quilt together. I don't think it looks at all pink. The backing fabric will look great with it.

I love this! Tonya's technique looks easy and may be on my to-do list faster than I know.
thanx for showing
Judy, the quilt is great, I always love red ... but over and above that your comment about choosing a clever secret new blogname just has me laughing out loud!!
Jeanne :)
Hmmm, I have no idea why my previous comment is 'anonymous.'

The Hugs and Kisses quilt came out great. I think the different reds make it so much fun - a true stash buster quilt.
you did a great job on the wonky letters. Congrats!
Looks great! I love the scrappy border...very fun! The scrappy binding will be great. Your backing fabric is perfect! I laughed and laughed at your secret blogname. What a hoot! Husband's are wonderful!
A great gift - he'll be so pleased.
It's gorgeous, and I woudn't change that border for anything.
That is one cute quilt. I think the Baptist Fans will be perfect on there. I have yet to see a quilt that that template does not work for. You are too funny showing Vince's Christmas present on line!
That is one outstanding quilt. I'm sure Vince will love it.
This looks great - you are getting so much accomplished that I'm jealous. Since finishing the wedding quilt all I've done is sew half of the nine patch quilt together. I guess it would help if I was home more - I can't wait for Sept and Oct to be over!
well, I think that border looks great with the varied "reds"...way to go to pull from the stash Judy! I find I can't click all the way around the ring anymore either..not sure why..but I have to pay attention or I only see about 15 of the blogs..before I find myself back at mine! Anyway..I think your hour a day quilt challenge was a hit..though I have yet to start on mine!
Like everyone else, I love it. So, you know that Vince will be crazy about it.
The quilt top looks very good Judy :-)
I like the variety of the reds.
I love the quilt. I had to laugh over your now being able to talk about Vince. My husband helped me set up my blog, so he knows exactly where it is...
Beautiful quilt. I'm sure Vince will love it. I could do something like that right under my DH's nose and he wouldn't even notice either unless I called it to his attention. DS is the same way. I gave him a flannel pieced duvet cover last year for Christmas that I had worked on right in front of him for months and he had no idea. :c) It must be a guy thing.
like i said before, that is a great quilt and what a great way to integrate tonya's idea with yours... your dh will love it
Your quilt is lovely Judy. At some stage i would like to have a go at the Xs and Os blocks.
I loved the way that turned out...and I like the scrappy border.
too funny..you hiding in plain sight..isn't that a book or something? :)
That is a beautiful quilt. I really like the various reds and beiges. I like the one that x and o block that has the red sashing. I like the pieced border, and a pieced sashing would be great to finish it off. If he doesn't like, I think I might be able to take it off your hands.
I hadn't been looking at this pattern as something that I wanted to make, but yours makes me want to put it on my to-do list.
Welcome to the new beta blogger. I switched too but didn't have the problems you had (thankfully). I love the labels except blogger puts a new label in my list for repeated labels. I think there are some bugs that still need to be worked out. Congrats on your quilts being published! What an achievement--I give you kudos for pushing to that level!!
Wow, looks great and you made it so quickly. Leave that lighter red in the border alone. It echoes the colors in the quilt itself, not like it's a completely new color added in.
